The Spirit of Jukido
By Ilya Liahunchyk
The spirit of Jukido has to be followed always. We do this by following Bushido, which means the Way of the Warrior. The Bushido codes are:
• Courage
• Veracity
• Justice
• Benevolence
• Loyalty
• Politeness
• Honor
The codes of Bushido must be remembered always, no matter what you’re doing! You can use the when you are in situations where you are in trouble. Like veracity – if you are truthful and don’t lie, you won’t get in any more trouble. Or if you see someone who needs help, you use benevolence and help them. If you have an attacker who wants to fight you, be polite. If he attacks, then you must defense yourself with courage. Once you have defended yourself, you must call the police so that they can be taken to a court of law – Justice!
We learn Jukido so that we can have peace with ourselves and be able to keep peace when someone tries to hurt us. You must always defense yourself with Honor. Defend yourself and never give up! You should be thankful that you know Jukido, because many people do not and cannot defend themselves.
Jukido’s top Master – Shihan Paul Arel, is the founder of Jukido Jujitsu and Kokondo Karate! If it wasn’t for him, we would be wimps. If someone where to push or attack us, we wouldn’t know how use Jukido to save ourselves from attack or at least be polite so that the attacker changes his mind and doesn’t attack! This is what Shihan Arel taught Sensei Rego and sensei teaches us!
Sensei Rego is our teacher and he teaches us techniques and the codes of bushido! The techniques he teaches us are throwing techniques, arm bar techniques, and kihon waza techniques, which are punching, kicking, blocking, and stances. He also teaches us much more. We need to show him respect and show him that we love Jukido! We must show respect to the dojo and sensei always. Having the Jukido spirit is all it takes to become one of the best Jukido-ka ever!
To also have good Jukido spirit you must train, train, and train! Train as hard as you can! This is the way of the warrior. Following the codes of Bushido in the dojo and outside is always very important and shows everyone how Jukido-ka act and what our sensei teaches us about respect. This is why he have loyalty to the dojo and sensei. Sensei says that we are either one of the two W’s. You are a wimp or a warrior. We must always be warriors and not wimps. When Shihan Arel visits our dojo – if you act like a wimp he’ll be disappointed in the way you are practicing the art he created! If you act like a warrior, he will be proud of you and the whole dojo! If it wasn’t for Shihan Arel’s intelligence, we wouldn’t have Jukido, so follow the codes of bushido and train, train, train! Jukido can save your life! This is all about the spirit of Jukido Jujitsu and Kokondo Martial Arts!
