Sensei George Rego began his martial arts training as a child at the honbu dojo (world headquarters) of the International Kokondo Association (IKA). Since that time he has been trained by the world’s leading and highest ranked Jukido Jujitsu and Kokondo Karate master, Shihan Paul Arel (founder). Sensei Rego has also been heavily influenced by other leading Kokondo sensei, including Master Greg Howard. After Shihan Arel's death in January 2009 - Master Howard (Shihan Arel's choosen successor) became Mr. Rego's full-time sensei. Mr. Rego has and continues to undergo extensive training by the world’s leading Kokondo masters. Since receiving his black belt Mr. Rego has assisted at many seminars, events, and dojo, including the IKA world headquarters.

Rego Sensei performs powerful Osoto Gari (major outside reaping throw) during a European seminar in 2006When Sensei Rego received his IKA Instructor’s certificate he became the youngest Chief Instructor in Kokondo history. For several years Mr. Rego was the youngest Chief Instructor in the IKA and the youngest certified Jukido Jujitsu instructor in the world.

Sensei Rego is a former Jukido Shiai Champion, having been successful in many jujitsu randori tournaments. Prior to 2010 he had won six gold medals, five being consecutive in the Senior Black Belt division. Sensei Rego is only the second middleweight in Kokondo history to win the IKA Jukido Jujitsu Randori Grand Championship and the youngest grand champion in Kokondo history. In 2010, Rego was "volunteered" by Master Joaquin Betancourt to participate in the 1st IKA National Jukido Championship help at the IKA's International Seminar in Seattle, Washington - his first time competing in shiai (tournament) in many years. After a series of exciting matches (particularly with the extraordinary Sensei Paul Ward), he won the 1st ever National Jukido Jujitsu Championships in the senior black belt division.


In October 1999 Sensei Rego moved from the IKA Honbu Dojo in Newington, Connecticut to Palm Coast, Florida, and soon after founded the Florida Jukido Jujitsu Academy (FJJA) on October 19, 1999. The Jukido Academy began as a small martial arts class in a Flagler County Park and Recreation program - since that point the academy has expanded several times - occuping it's own storefront space - becoming the longest running self-defense school in Palm Coast and Flagler County, Florida and the most well attended Jukido Jujitsu dojo in the world.

The Florida Jukido Jujitsu Academy is well connected to the rest of Kokondo and the IKA Honbu. Sensei Rego has been a regular attendee of the IKA’s International Seminars for many years and his students are also regular attendees. Sensei Rego also trains and assists at regional seminars throughout the year. Additionally, Sensei Rego hosts annual IKA seminars at the Palm Coast, Florida dojo every December. IKA students from across the nation are also regular visitors to the IKA.


Sensei Rego was awarded Kokondo's highest (non-rank) honor by being awarded the Master Bob Longo Award for Excellence (IKA Martial Artist of the Yearr) at the conclusion of the 2005 International Kokondo Seminar by Kokondo's founder and his sensei - Shihan Paul Arel. Sensei Rego is the youngest person in Kokondo history to be awarded with this high honor.

At the conclusion of the 2006 IKA Florida Seminar at Rego’s Palm Coast dojo – Shihan Paul Arel announced that Sensei Rego had been named the IKA’s first regional supervisor as the new IKA Florida Director. The responsibilities of the State Director are to oversee and manage the direction of Kokondo in the region in direct communication with honbu (headquarters). Responsibilities include but are not limited too: coordination of logistics and events for all Kokondo events in the region, to oversee rank evaluations regionally,, and to be honbu’s (headquarters) official representative in the southeast United States.

During the IKA Awards Banquest at the conclusion of the 2008 International Seminar Sensei Rego was promoted by Shihan Arel and International Kokondo Association to the rank of Yodan (4th degree black belt) in the art of Jukido Jujitsu. Sensei Rego is the youngest person in the history of Kokondo to be awarded this prestigious rank. He is also the final person promoted to the rank of Yodan in Jukido Jujitsu directly by the founder of the art.

Sensei Rego also serves the IKA as a member of the Kokondo Advocacy Committee (KAC) for the East Coast. Additionally, Sensei Rego is, at the request of Shihan Arel and Kaicho Greg Howard, leading the way in projects for advancing Kokondo’s future through marketing and public relations for IKA. He is currently the chairman of the IKA Marketing/Public Relations Committee.

He conducts private black belt training with regional black belts and is currently training several for roles as sensei. Sensei Rego continues his training at his dojo along with extensive training at regional, national, and International IKA events. He also benefits by private training from several IKA masters, including from Kaicho Howard.


Sensei Rego has been and continues to be featured in demonstrations, community events, and the local media. Some of Sensei Rego's past appearances include: Radio station interviews, newspapers locally and internationally, magazines, Budo News (official International newsletter of IKA), IKA Guidebooks, IKA Official Curriculum DVD (nage-no-kata).


Outside of martial arts, Mr. Rego has held a position as child specialist with extensive experience mentoring children in school settings. Primary he did so in his capacity as a children's activity leader and a counselor for the Flagler County School Board in after-school and summer camp programs. Sensei Rego also holds an Associate of Science degree in Office System Technology and Administrative Management. He enjoys spending his non-martial arts time by reading, writing, traveling, exercising and most importantly spending time with his family - most notably his wife and daughter.
